Happy Homecoming Fairfield Eagles!
Still “wingin it” this week on the tour, I took advantage of a Class B matchup that pitted the 3-1 Fairfield Eagles against the 4-0 Glasgow Scotties!
Now, I have no idea when I’ll make it out to Glasgow so between the records, the matchup, and the occasion, I couldn’t pass it up.
36-0 is your final from Fairfield, and as much as I enjoy a much closer score, it was great seeing two squads with history going after each other on a Friday night.
Heavy defense at first but the Eagles kept the Scotties off the board despite an early turnover. Then Fairfield would find pay dirt early in the 2nd to end the stalemate.
They’d score again on a “tip drill touchdown” but miss the extra point so Glasgow was still very much in it.
But then, with just 22 seconds left in the half, Fairfield went up a 3rd score on a Brock Peace keeper to knock the wind right out of Glasgow.
2nd half was more the same complete with a field goal and then an interception by one Eagle who seemed to be all over the field in this one.

The 6’ senior TE and LB was filling just about every role on the team tonight except QB and Kicker!
He scored the first touchdown on a run, had some nice catches downfield to move the chains, tackles for loss and broken up passes, lead blocking for big gains, and the lone INT for Fairfield!
Quite the stat line for the young man who was quick to recognize the others on the team that helped make his job easier.
Glasgow got em last season and now Fairfield gets to be the first tick in the loss column this season on very happy (and very windy) homecoming!
